About ParentSpace
ParentSpace is just that – space for parents. Space to step out of what we believe is the hardest and most important job in the world, to reflect on what kind of parent we want to be, and to gain support and resources to do the best job we can.
Our mission statement is the advancement of education to build healthy families, and we do this by running evidence based courses, and providing 1:1 support.
We believe that in the short-term this enables parents, in the medium-term leads to happier, healthier relationships at home, and in the long-term this will contribute to a healthier, happier, more peaceful world. Put simply, we nurture the parents, which increases their capacity to nurture and build resilience in their own children, which in turn increases their capacity to nurture the world.
We started as a group of local parents in the community supporting each other on a voluntary basis in 2015, then trained with a national charity “Care for the Family”, to deliver courses. We became a charity in 2019 thanks to National Lottery funding, and since then in response to demand we’ve grown to offer 1:1 support, bespoke drop-ins, and courses, both in person and online, as well as a closed online peer support group. We work closely with other local organisations, including schools, youth groups, social work and the NHS.
We need enthusiastic people with a range of skills and experience to join our board!
