BEFRIENDING SERVICE
We are delighted to be planning the next round of training for our Befriending service!
The first step is to recruit some lovely parents who would like to train as Befrienders.
Requirements
The training
An introductory session from 10am-2pm, followed by 4 sessions from 10am-2pm.
We are planning to meet face to face and are flexible if a hybrid Zoom/face to face option would work better for you.
Once training is completed, you’ll be matched with a parent close to you geographically. You can then arrange a time and frequency that suits you both to meet for a chat, go for a walk, have a coffee…
We offer ongoing supervision and training and a friendly, welcoming team to work with.
Please get in touch with [email protected] if you are interested in training as a befriender.
Testimonial
"I started my training with ParentSpace last autumn and was matched with a parent by December. I honestly wasn't expecting to meet so many lovely people. The training was thoughtful and thorough. Karen and Julie were so encouraging and naturally the other trainees were friendly! I was relieved that I didn't have to have all the answers or be a perfect parent myself; my own struggles have shown me the difference this kind of support can make and they also make it easier to form a connection. The support from my supervisor and the ParentSpace team means I never feel isolated and has helped me build my confidence. Personally, I look forward to the befriending sessions and have had a lot of fun since I joined up."
Thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund Scotland for funding our befriending service training.
